The objectives of this study were (i) to understand the students’ achievement in probabilities and statistics, (ii) to understand the students’ attitudes toward mathematics, and (iii) to identify the relationship between the students’ attitudes and their achievement. A total of 319​​ ​engineering students who had just finished their 2nd year program at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) participated in the data collection with an online survey.

The relationship between students’ learning engagement with their academic performance has attracted vast interest among scholars and educators in English as Foreign Language setting. Empirically, learning engagement is considered to be among the better predictors of learning and personal development. This research bared three objectives: (i) to assess students’ learning engagement (ii) to assess the English performance, and (iii) to determine the relationship between students’ engagement and their performance in English.
